This comprehensive 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training will deepen all aspects of your yoga practice, allowing you to discover and foster the teacher within you. With a focus on Vinyasa Flow yoga, learn to develop dynamic, creative, and intelligent flows, and gain the ability to intuitively adapt sequences for all levels of practitioners and abilities. Establish a solid understanding of yogic principles, asana, alignment, and practical teaching skills. Learn to safely support the growth of each student and to provide skillful, intelligent assists. Discover a safe space to challenge and deepen your personal practice, allowing you to awaken your unique voice and style. Emerge from this transformative experience with lasting inspiration, an open heart, and the confidence to teach with authenticity and grace.


Topics will include:


  • Asana: Trainees will learn how to safely instruct over 85 Yoga poses. Basic salutations will be taught, including: Surya Namaskara A and Surya Namaskara B from the Ashtanga Tradition, as well as Chandra Namaskara and Dancing Warrior. Modifications and options for all levels of practitioners will be demonstrated and practiced. Emphasis will also include proper alignment, benefits, and contraindications of each posture.


  • Meditation Techniques & Practice: Trainees will develop an understanding of various meditation techniques and gain the practical tools to incorporate meditation into their yoga teaching.


  • Pranayama: Trainees will develop a solid understanding of various Pranayama techniques. Instruction will be spent on how to effectively incorporate Pranayama into class design.


  • Eastern Anatomy: Trainees will be provided with an understanding of various Eastern Anatomical systems, such as Prana, Chakras, Koshas and Nadis. Trainees will learn how to apply this knowledge in a practical way to both their personal asana practice and their teaching practice.


  • Western Anatomy: Basic anatomical systems, such as the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems, as they relate to asana will be explored with an emphasis on safe alignment, injury prevention, and conscious movement.


  • Hands on Assists: Trainees will develop an understanding of how to assist and adjust their students using their hands. Focuses will include how to enter a student’s field of energy in a non-intrusive manner, how to safely guide students deeper into a pose, and how to protect themselves from injury while adjusting.



Additional Topics will Include:


  • A study of Pantanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga and an introduction to the Yoga Sutras

  • An in depth look at the Yamas & Niyamas

  • Ethics of a Yoga Instructor and the business of teaching yoga, including how to promote oneself as an instructor

  • Creative Sequencing including how to plan and execute a theme

  • Verbal cueing and correcting and effective and authentic communication

  • Integrative Nutrition and Health


The Yoga Teacher Training at Bloom was a transformative experience. The training was well structured, each weekend flew by and I was always looking forward to the next one. Our instructors were top notch, sharing with us their experiences and knowledge.



The current State mandates, in regards to covid 19, require that yoga mats be spaced out at a minimum of 12 feet apart for moderate and vigorous yoga practices. In light of this, we have decided to change the location of this year's training so that we have adequate space for social distancing. All in-house training sessions will now be held at Forge Functional Fitness - located at 409 Canal St, Plantsville, CT 06479. Bloom is thrilled to be collaborating with Forge Fitness and we are confident that you will love the space just as much as our own! It is located inside the beautiful Clark Street Factory building and has a very similar aesthetic to Bloom (exposed brick, beautiful wooden beams, as well as vaulted ceilings and large windows with tons of natural lighting). It is also located right on the Southington Walk Path, providing the added benefit of being able to use the path during your breaks. 

The Training will include 6 select weekends (one weekend per month) beginning in December, 2020 and concluding in May, 2021. In addition, a portion of the lecture content will be offered online via Zoom Meetings. Dates and details are as follows:

In house Training Weekends (held in person at Forge Functional Fitness) 

Each in house training weekend will run on Friday from 6-9pm, Saturdays from 10am-7pm, and Sundays from 9am-6pm. Dates of our training weekends are:

December 11-13, January 8-10, February 12-14, March 12-14, March 26-28, April 9-11, and Graduation Weekend May 14-16.

Zoom Meetings:

There will be 6 Zoom Meetings required, which will be offered on select Monday evenings from 6pm-8:30pm. Please note, you will need a device with internet access in order to participate in Zoom Meetings. Dates are as follows:

January 4, January 25, February 8, February 22, March 22, April 19


Honestly, my first thought  was that at 65, I was too old. I was eligible for Social Security, but certainly not to be a certified yoga teacher!  My body couldn't handle it. I was so WRONG. We require that you have been practicing yoga on a regular basis for at least 12 months in order to participate in this training. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of alignment, as well as the physical strength and stamina to complete a full 75 Minute Multi Level Flow class.  Applicants must have a passion, desire, and commitment to learning. A program application must be completed by each trainee and approved by Bloom prior to the start date of the training.

Additional Costs:

The cost of the required books is not included in this fee. All books must be purchased separately prior to the start date of the Training. Books can be purchased in hard copy, digital, or audio format. Cost varies, but books will average a total of around $150.

The Bloom Yoga School Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program seeks to diversify yoga by training yogis from underrepresented groups to become yoga instructors. It is our wish to contribute to an environment of inclusion and diversity within the yogic community, and strive to train teachers in underrepresented groups so that all students of yoga can feel safe and seen. 


We have a limited number of scholarships available for the 2020-2021 YTT class. The Scholarship amount is $2200. The awarded amount of $2200 will be deducted from the regular tuition rate of $2800, reducing the tuition cost to just $600. The reduced Tuition rate of $600 can either be paid in full or can be broken up through a Payment Plan (6 equal payments of $100, to be withdrawn on the first of each month from December 1, 2020 to May 1, 2021).

I'm interested in the Training but I'm not the most flexible or the strongest yogi. Are you sure I'm ready?


There is a huge misconception out there that you need to be an expert at Yoga in order to become an instructor. We are here to tell you that this is simply not true! You don't need to be able to stand on your head or contort your body into a pretzel in order to teach yoga. The practice of Yoga consists of a whole lot more than postures, and the physical aspect of yoga is just the tip of the iceberg! If you've been practicing Yoga for at least 12 months, have the strength and stamina to complete a 75 Minute Multi Flow class, have a basic knowledge of alignment, and an overall passion, commitment, and desire to learn - then the answer is YES your practice is strong enough, and you are ready!


Is your Training accredited?

Yes, our Training is approved and accredited through Yoga Alliance. Yoga Alliance is the most widely accepted organization to accredit Yoga Teacher Trainings in the United States. Our Syllabus meets all of the required standards and has been thouroughly reviewed and approved by Yoga Alliance.

As a graduate of our Yoga Alliance accredited Program you will have the opportunity to register as an RYT-200 (registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 Hour Level) through Yoga Alliance.

Am I too old to participate in a 200 Hour Training?


Oftentimes people express fears that they're too old to participate in a 200 Hour Training... "Will my body be able to handle it? Will I make a fool of myself?" Here's our answer... Yoga is for everyone. Every age and every body. Yes, the Training will be emotionally and physically demanding at times. However, we are welcoming to all ages and have had graduates ranging in age from 18-66! 

I'm interested in the Training but I'm not sure that I really want to teach Yoga. Can I still participate?


​Absolutely! We've had many people participate in the Training as a way to deepen their Yoga practice, grow on an emotional and spiritual level, or learn more about Yogic Philosophy. The Training is a wonderful journey - even for those who have no desire to teach. 

The weekends seem really long. Will I be able to handle it?


​We've put a tremendous amount of thought and care into our Training schedule and have done our very best to structure the Weekends in a way that is both manageable and enjoyable. We will be honest in saying that the Weekends might sometimes feel challenging... any 200 Hour Teacher Training - whether it's offered as a weekend format, intensive, etc. - is challenging by nature. 

You will be pushed and encouraged to grow on every level: Physical, Mental, and Spiritual. However, there will also be a lot of fun, laughter, and friendship along the way. Your fellow YTT Trainees will become an incredible network of support throughout your journey. Your weekends will be full of fascinating content - from lectures on yogic philosophy, to adjustment clinics, to practice teaching, meditation, and so much more.

In other words, the Training weekends are intense, yet deeply rewarding. Many past Trainees have commented that the experience far surpassed their expectations, and the 9 weekends seemed to fly by faster than they had ever anticipated. 

Will there be a lot of homework?


The Training consists of 180 contact hours and 20 non-contact hours. This means that you will have about 20 hours of reading, homework, and assignments to complete at home during the course of 9 months. Homework assignments might consist of reading, practicing yoga at home, meditation, practice teaching, etc. There will be one book report due at the very end of the Training - but you'll have the entire 9 months to complete the book and write your report. All of the assignments are very manageable, and we'll provide you with plenty of notice and support.


​Do I get a discount on classes throughout the Training?

​Yes! All Trainees receive 50% off Classes at Bloom throughout the duration of the Training.

What type of Yoga will I be able to teach after graduating?

Our Training has an emphasis on Vinyasa Yoga. There tends to be some confusion over what this means, and we've found that the term "Vinyasa Yoga" is often misinterpreted to mean "Power Yoga."


To clarify - Vinyasa simply refers to a fluid style of yoga that moves gracefully from one pose to the next, and links breath with movement. This is the most popular style of Yoga taught in the United States, and it is likely that you've practiced Vinyasa Yoga many times before without ever knowing it! Vinyasa can be taught at any level including beginners, gentle, all-levels, power, and more!


In addition to Vinyasa yoga - you will be exposed to a variety of other styles throughout the Training including Restorative Yoga, Chair Yoga, Yin Yoga, and more. You will have the opportunity to take classes with many different instructors, at a variety of levels. Our goal throughout the Training is for you grow your personal practice, discover what you love most about Yoga, find your own niche as an instructor, and learn to teach in a way that is authentic for you. 

Upon completion of this Training you will have a solid foundation in Yoga and will be able to teach a variety of classes - such as beginners yoga, gentle yoga, all-levels yoga, power yoga, and more. You will learn how to modify poses and structure classes for all levels and will be comfortable teaching a broad population.


Some of our Trainees will choose to continue their education by receiving specialty certifications in Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for Kids, Therapeautic Yoga, etc. While we will touch briefly on how to modify for some of these populations throughout the 200 Hour Program (such as the contraindications for pregnant women), it's important to keep in mind that Yoga Alliance might require further certification in order for you to teach exclusivley to these populations. Bloom offers many of these specialty certifications and we will be happy to provide you with further guidance should you choose to develop a specialty and continue your Yoga Teacher education.

I have a scheduling conflict with one of the Weekends and might need to miss some days. Can I still participate? 


​Bloom’s program is accredited through Yoga Alliance – which means all Trainees are required to complete the entire 200 hours. For this reason, there is limited flexibility when it comes to missing time. However, if you give us advance notice before the start of the Training there is a possibility that we will be able to find ways for you to make up hours in the event that you absolutely must miss. Keep in mind that this is not always possible depending on the content scheduled, and there may be extra fees associated with making up hours.


Will I have to take a written test in order to Graduate?


We do not require our Trainees to take a written test in order to graduate. However, there will be a practical exam which will include teaching a yoga class to your peers for a designated length of time. Your Final Teaching Practice will take place on the very last weekend of the Training and we promise that by that time you’ll have all the tools and knowledge to complete it successfully!

There are so many different Trainings out there. Why should I choose Bloom?


It wasn't long ago that we were in your shoes - scouring the internet for Trainings and feeling overwhelmed by the tremendous number of options out there. Searching for a Yoga Teacher Training can be a daunting task. Our advice to you is to follow your heart... each one of us is unique and you will need to find a studio, training format, and schedule that clicks with you and your learning style. If you think that Bloom’s Training might be a possibility, here are a few things to know about our Program that might make your decision a little easier:

1. Our Attention to Detail: Bloom is family owned and operated. This studio is our home and our Trainees are our extended family. Everything that we do here is done with the utmost amount of care and attention to detail. We have put our entire heart and soul into this program and every detail – from the manual, to the schedule, to the homework assignments – has been carefully thought out and structured. When you enroll in a Training at Bloom we promise that you will receive a high quality program with instructors who truly care.

2. Our Training Center: Most Trainings hold their lectures in Studio spaces where you’ll be required to sit on hard, studio floors for long hours. Let’s face it – being physically uncomfortable makes learning challenging. That’s why we are proud to hold all of our lectures in our Training Center – a quaint and cozy space equipped with tables, chairs, and an audio visual system.

3. Our Program Schedule: There are a LOT of ways to approach a 200 Hour Training and finding a schedule that meets your needs can sometimes feel overwhelming. There are programs that offer 4-week intensives, programs that matriculate, weekend immersions, week-day programs, and more. At Bloom we’ve put a lot of thought as to how to structure our schedule in the most effective way. In our experience meeting once per month on the Weekends has offered our Trainees the best of all worlds. Here’s why:

We space things out: The amount of content covered in a 200-Hour Training is immense. We’ve learned from personal experience that trying to tackle it all in a short span of time, such as in a 4-week intensive, is not always effective. Time off between weekends allows you to rest, reflect on the content, fully absorb it, and apply it within your life.

We follow a school year calendar: There’s something about September that offers us the sense of a fresh start and a new beginning. We begin our Training during the second week of September and graduation takes place in May. The Training will never interfere with Holidays and your Summer will be kept free for vacations and family obligations.

You’ll start and end your Journey as a team: There are many programs that offer Trainees the opportunity to matriculate – which means that you can rotate into the Program at any time of year. While this certainly has the benefit of convenience – there is a definite sense of bonding that is lacking from this structure. At Bloom you will begin and end your journey together. Your group of Trainees will turn into a family that supports one another through every challenge and triumph. You’ll arrive at the finish line as a team, and end your Training with a heartfelt graduation ceremony and celebration!

4. Our Student Teaching Program: A 200 Hour Teacher Training Program will provide you with the knowledge and certification to teach… however, there are certain things that can only be learned from experience – and a large part of your learning process will take place once you’ve begun your teaching journey. This can make for a bit of a conundrum… you’re a Teacher who’s certified and ready to teach, but you lack real world experience and might feel intimidated to walk into an established studio and teach amongst seasoned instructors.


For this reason, we’ve designed an optional Student Teaching Program for all of our graduates. Every Summer, after our Teacher Training is complete, Bloom adds a select number of $5 Drop-In classes to our schedule that are taught by participating graduates. Our clients pay a discounted fee to take these classes and they are fully aware that their instructor is certified, but brand new to teaching (and probably a little bit nervous!). This allows you to gain real world experience without all the pressure!

I feel compelled to do this Training but I'm feeling nervous and afraid. Any advice?

Fear is the number one thing which prevents people from attending a Teacher Training. Fear that they're not ready, fear that they can't afford it, fear of missing out on time with family, fear that they just can't make the commitment. Trust us... we've been there. We know that feeling of being paralyzed by fear and worry. Here's our advice:

Remember that there will never be a perfect time to do this. Whether it's money, kids, your time, your spouse... you will ALWAYS be able to convince yourself that the timing isn't right. The voice of fear can be very convincing... but if you simply listen a litlle bit closer, the voice of your heart will provide you with the answers you are seeking. When we follow our heart and let our intuition guide us, things tend to manifest exactly the way that they are meant to. This doesn't mean it will be easy, comfortable, or perfect. In fact, a Teacher Training is quite the opposite. But it is through discomfort and challenge that we GROW... and through this Training, you will indeed grow!

In the words of Joseph Campbell:  


"Follow your bliss. If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be. If you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that wouldn't have opened for anyone else."




8:45AM: Arrive a few minutes early. Take a seat on our beautiful patio, around the fire pit, and sip on a cup of hot organic tea (it's complimentary)

9:00AM: Head into the Training Center and settle in for your morning lecture. Topics might include - Pranayama, Ayurveda, Chakras, the Business of Yoga, and much more.

11:30AM: Take a short break

11:45: Head into the studio for an energizing Yoga Practice

1:15PM: Lunch break! Grab your lunch and head out to one of our picnic tables to eat, chat, and get some sun. 

1:45PM: Meet back in the studio for a Guided Meditation

2:15PM:  Asana overview. Learn a variety of poses including alignment, modifications, adjustments, cueing and benefits. Discover how to offer hands on assists, how to structure a class, theming, creative sequencing, verbiage, and much more! Time will include demos, practice teaching, yoga games, and more.

5:40PM: Clean up time and closing.

6:00PM: Head home for the night - your day is complete!

You are welcome to start reading your books prior to the Training, but this is not required. Reading assignments will be given throughout the duration of the Program.
