Which yoga class should I start with?

If you have never had any experience with yoga before, we recommend that you start by taking our Gentle Flow Yoga class. The Gentle class moves at a slower pace and emphasizes stretching and relaxation. It's a great way to build the foundation of your practice, in a beginner friendly atmosphere!

After taking the Gentle Flow class you’ll have an excellent measure as to which class to try next. You may find that you love the relaxed pace of a Gentle class or perhaps you’ll realize you’re ready for something more strenuous – such as a faster-paced Yoga class, or Fitness class. We greatly encourage you to try a variety of classes and instructors… with a little experimentation you are sure to find the perfect fit for you!

In addition to our Gentle class, we offer a special, Basics of Yoga Series just for Beginners! This 5-week Series is run periodically throughout the Year. It's designed for the complete yoga novice, looking to become familiar with with the basics in a welcoming atmosphere. Sessions include discussion on yoga philosophy and benefits; instruction on yogic breathing and meditation techniques; and detailed guidance on basic yoga postures. Nearly 20 yoga postures are explored in depth – including proper alignment, benefits, use of props, and ways to modify. This 5-week series will have you feeling like a yoga-pro in no time and will provide you with the confidence and knowledge to join our ongoing classes. I've never done Yoga before, but I'm athletic and I learn quickly. Do I still need to start in a Gentle Class?

 

Not necessarily! Some clients find that they prefer to skip the Gentle classes and dive right into one of our faster-paced classes. Our Gentle Flow class will move at a slow and steady pace, and if you are seeking an athletic or physically challenging practice, you might find that this class is not appropriate for you. Consider trying one or two Gentle Classes to get a feel for the structure of a yoga class and familiarize yourself with basic allignment cues. If it feels too slow - you can then move on to a moderately paced class such as Muli-Level Flow, Vin & Yin, or Fusion; or a fast-paced class, such as PowerFlow Level 1 or PowerFlow Level 2. Our Fitness Classes may also be a good fit - as they offer challenging workouts coupled with a small amount of yoga and relaxation.

 

Most of all - never give up on Yoga because you it feels too slow. We hate to see someone lose out on the tremendous benefits of Yoga for these reasons. YES, yoga can be slow, meditative and relaxing... but it can also be powerful, athletic, sweaty, and challenging. If a class feels too slow or "easy", it is simply a sign that you are in the wrong class and will need to experiment until you find a class that is appropriately paced for your needs.

It's very likely that you'll still be able to attend classes at Bloom! However, we ask that you contact
us about your specific injury or limitation so that we can direct you to the classes that are most suitable for your unique needs.

Which fitness class should I start with?

 

Bloom takes a unique approach to fitness, providing you with a holistic experience that not only benefits the body, but also the mind and spirit! Our goal is to fuse the benefits and philosophy of yoga with the strength of fitness. Each of our fitness classes begin with a centering meditation and end with a few minutes of stretching and deep relaxation – leaving you refreshed and revitalized.

 

If you are new to Fitness, or are just getting back into a workout regimen, we recommend that you start off with either Barre, Barre Express, or Core & More. These classes are tailored for all levels, and while intense, they are easy to follow and require no prior experience!

If you are seeking more intensity in your workout - try Bloom HIIT, Kickbox Fusion, Yoga Sculpt with Weights, or VinyasaFit. These classes will move at a slightly faster pace and will offer higher intensity options.

Our Sunrise Warrior classes are the highest intensity Fitness classes on our schedule and offer an awesome workout, packed into a time friendly 45 minutes. The Sunrise Warrior classes are scheduled early in the morning, and are an invigorating way to start your day! Offerings include Sunrise Warrior HIIT, Sunrise Warrior Kickboxing, Sunrise Warrior VinyasaFit, and Sunrise Warrior Core. Please see the schedule for details.

In all of our Fitness classes, instructors will provide modifications for various levels and you will be encouraged to listen to your body and work within your abilities.

How much do classes cost?

 

Since Bloom offers such a wide variety of yoga and fitness classes it can be difficult to get an accurate impression of the studio with just one visit. For this reason, we’ve designed a 14 day trial pass specifically for our new clients! This $25 New Client Trial Pass will provide you with 14 consecutive days of classes, allowing you try out a variety of classes and instructors, and see everything that Bloom has to offer!

 

*Helpful Tip: Your 14 day trial pass will not be activated until you’ve attended your first class, so you can feel free to purchase it as many days in advance as you wish!

 

After completing your trial pass you can choose from one of our many Class Packages or our monthly Crew Membership.

Do I need to sign up ahead of time?

 

Although pre-registering for classes is not required, it is strongly recommended that you reserve your spot in advance, as certain classes do fill up and space is not guaranteed. Classes can be booked up to 30 days in advance. We recommend booking out your classes at least 1-2 weeks at a time. This can be done through our website, or by calling the studio.

What happens if I get put onto a Wait List?

 

If a class is full upon signing up, you might be prompted to go onto a waiting list. Don't be discouraged by this! Our wait lists tend to move very quickly and there's still a great chance you'll be able to attend the class. If / when a seat in the class opens, you will be moved off of the wait list, and will receive an automatic email and / or text notification.

 

As a courtesy to clients on the wait list - we also ask that you cancel your reservation within an hour of the class start time in the event that your plans change and you are no longer able to attend. This will allow someone on a wait list the opportunity to take your place. If you fail to cancel your reservation and do not show up, your visit will be marked down as a "No Show". Please note that excessive No Shows might result in you losing your ability to pre-register for classes. Therefore, please be sure to either call or go online to cancel when you are unable to attend!

 What happens if I show up late for class? Can I still go in?

 

As a respect to our client's schedules, we do our best to begin and end each class right on time. Therefore, we ask that you do your best to arrive at least 5 minutes early. This will leave you enough time to set up your mat and settle into the space before your class begins. That said, we understand that life can sometimes be unpredictable and there are times when you might be running late  If you arrive for class late, and there is still space available, we will allow you to enter the studio after the meditation has ended, and up to 10 minutes past the class start time.

 

Please note, that during classes offered outside of our regular business hours (including all 5:30am classes, and 7am classes) the entryways will be locked at the class start time for safety reasons. With that in mind, please be sure to arrive a little earlier for these particular classes, as late entry will not be accommodated.

 

Please also be aware that preregistering for a class does not guarantee your spot. In the event that you are late for class, and another client is waiting on stand by to get in, your spot will be given away to client on standby. 

What is your class cancellation policy?

 

Sometimes life gets busy and plans change! If you’ve registered for a class but decide that you can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation within at least one hour of the class start time. This can be done through your online account or by calling Bloom at 860 620 4530. This will allow another client the opportunity to take your place.

 

Keep in mind that our classes often fill up in advance and develop waiting lists. When you take up a space in class but then fail to show up – you have prevented another client from being able to take that class. Therefore, please do your best to cancel within at least 60 minutes of the start time as a courtesy to your fellow yogis. If you fail to cancel your reservation and do not show up for class, your visit will be marked down as a "No Show".  Excessive no shows might result in you losing your ability to pre-register for classes. Therefore, please make sure that you always cancel your reservation when you can no longer attend.

What should I wear / bring to class?

 

Wear comfortable clothing that you are able to move and stretch in. You will be barefoot in nearly all of our yoga and fitness classes - socks may be worn, but you will get the best grip on your mat by practicing barefoot. Sneakers are optional in our HIIT and Kickbox Fusion classes. If you choose to wear sneakers in HIIT or Kickbox Fusion - please bring a pair of clean, dry sneakers that have not been worn outdoors.

 

You are encouraged to bring your own yoga mat, although we do have mats available that you can borrow free of charge. Bring a water bottle if you’d like one. Any other special equipment will be provided by the studio.

How old do you need to be to take classes at Bloom?

 

You must be 16 or older to attend classes at Bloom.

BLOOM ETIQUETTE

  1. ARRIVE EARLY:

 

 Please do your very best to arrive a few minutes early in order to set up a space in the room. Also, keep in mind that our classes will sometimes sell out and develop waiting lists. In the event that a class is full, and clients are waiting on stand-by to get in, your spot in the class might be given away to another client if you are not on time. If you anticipate that you'll be late - please give the Studio a call at 860 620 4530 and we'll do our best to save your spot! If the class is not full, then we will allow you to enter up to 10 minutes late, and once the meditation has ended. We do not allow anyone to enter the space after the 10 minute mark, or if the room is full. For classes outside of regular business hours (including all 5:30am and 7am classes) the entryways will be locked promptly at the start of class for safety purposes. Therefore, please be especially mindful about arriving early for these particular class times, as late entry cannot be accommodated.  

 

 

2. AVOID STRONG SCENTS:

 

We think you smell great! But sadly, not all of our clients would agree. In fact, many of your fellow yogis are very sensitive to perfumes and strong scents. Please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne to class as a courtesy to your fellow yogis. Please also avoid smoking immediately prior to your class.

 

 

3. LEAVE STREET SHOES BEHIND:

 

Please help us to keep studio floors clean and sanitary by removing your street shoes before entering the space. We understand that some classes require sneakers (such as Kickboxing or HIIT), so please wear your street shoes into the lobby and then change into clean, dry sneakers before entering the studio.

 

 

4. TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE:

 

Nothing can kill your yoga buzz quite like a cell phone ringing during savasana! Even cell phones left out in the cubbies can ring and buzz - causing a disruption to classes. Therefore, please silence your cell phones before putting them into the cubbies. We also ask that you do not bring your cell phone onto your mat or into the studio space as it can be a distraction to your fellow yogis. If you must bring your cell phone into the studio due to an emergency, please put it on silent and avoid responding to texts or calls unless absolutely necessary.

 

 

5. CANCELLATION POLICY

 

Sometimes life gets busy and plans change! If you’ve registered for a class but decide that you can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation within at least one hour of the class start time through your online account or by calling Bloom. This will allow another client the opportunity to take your place.

Please note that if you fail to cancel your reservation and do not show up for class, your visit will be marked down as a "No Show". Excessive no shows could result in you losing your ability to pre-register for classes. Therefore, please make sure that you cancel reservations within a 60 minute window if you cannot attend.

 

 

6. KEEP QUIET IN HALLWAYS & STUDIO SPACES:

 

We love that our clients have a strong sense of community and enjoy socializing before and after class! However, this can sometimes create noise issues for the classes that are in session. Please hang out in the reception / retail area if you’d like to chat with friends, and keep your voices down to a whisper when you are passing through the hallways just outside of the Studios. In addtion, please keep your voices low upon entering the studio space, and avoid chatting with friends throughout the class.
